Looking back on 2024, I’m incredibly grateful and humbled by all that our team at StellosLab.com has accomplished. We celebrated multiple awards this year: Michael winning the 1st Prize of the Young Investigator Award of the European Society of Cardiology Council On Basic Cardiovascular Science, Kateryna earning the DGK Award for Clinical Lipid Research, and Marco receiving both the DGK Hans-Blömer-YIA and a postdoctoral fellowship as a Helmholtz Institute physician scientist. We’re also proud of Runan’s PhD CSC scholarship, Beyza’s CRC1366 MD scholarship, and my own Associate Editor appointment at the European Heart Journal.
Beyond that, our team published 12 papers (with 4 more accepted), obtained 3 grant approvals, completed our ERC Grant paving the way for future endeavors, and was honored by 3 new academic appointments for our alumni in 3 other universities. I was humbled to receive Top Reviewer awards from Cardiovascular Research and the European Heart Journal. I’m honored to have been appointed as a DZHK PI (2026-) as well.
None of these milestones would have been possible without the hard work, talent, and support of my entire lab, our collaborators, and the institutions that believe in our research, esp. of the ECAS (European Center for Angioscience). We’re excited for what 2025 holds and look forward to continuing our journey—together.
